For that reason it may be difficult for some to find a space appropriate for the device. Cat Genie also demands special granules and cleaning cartridges, that may become a financial burden over time. As with the other device, there is still the possibility of the cat rejecting the unit and refusing to use it.
Robotic litter boxes are great time savers, and they enable people to avoid the nastiness of kitty waste as much as possible. For this reason alone many are willing to invest a chunk of change in the technology.
